Take Responsibility For Personal Wellness Through Medical Nutrition Awareness

Nutritional immunity is something that most of us take for granted. Most doctors are considered more educated than the general public but are often the least educated in unfamiliar areas. The omission of nutritional education in the Medical Doctor’s arena is the cause. Because the allopathic-centered doctor’s primary concern is to push pharmaceuticals or surgery, fewer in-depth studies exist on food. (And let us not forget that is all medical insurance will cover.) Consequently, because food cannot be patented, there is no reason for the status quo to invest in its research. But I’m so glad we serve a God who has let everyone know what he has given us in Genesis 1:29.

Background

My reason for going into both John and my personal history is this: One must take responsibility for one’s health and not just leave it entirely in the hands of M.D.s. Taking personal responsibility is necessary, particularly if one wants to stay alive. “According to the government medical mistakes at hospitals and clinics by doctors is now the 3rd leading cause of death in The U.S,” claims Dr. Joel Wallach. He further asserts that “Over 1.5 million patients are injured, infected or killed by the medical industry every year, and if any other industry harmed that many people, the government would shut it down.” Do you get the picture yet?

Blood Glucose At A Dangerous Level

In 2011 my blood glucose levels were 419 mg/dL, and normal fasting glucose levels should be between 66 – 99 mg/dL. Don’t wait for a crisis to occur before you begin to take care of your body. The nutrition your body requires isn’t in the food you are eating. If you don’t add it to your diet, you will not operate to your fullest potential. If you have physical complaints, receive a diagnosis, but stay out of the doctor’s office when it comes to treatment. Except for the occasional checkup, visit only after making the necessary changes to your lifestyle.

The direct relationship between proper nutrition and immunity exemplified is Nutritional immunity. In 1987, my friend John received a diagnosis from an M.D., determining that he had terminal prostate cancer. His doctor told him that his cancer was too far advanced for chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery and that it would be wise for him to get his affairs in order. As most M.D.s recommend that a patient have a prostate biopsy with a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level above 4.0 ng/ml, his PSA was a whopping 416.4!

Diet: The First Consideration

He never let the doctor’s diagnosis affect him spiritually. Instead, he became proactive by studying the nature and causes of cancerous growth through research. His research led him to change his diet. He also began researching medical nutrition and would visit me or talk to me on the phone about the nutritional immunity benefits of various vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc. One day he saw me and brought a sample of organic sulfur. He offered me this sulfur, known as Methyl Sulphonyl Methane (MSM), to try. While he was still present, I took some disgusting, bitter-tasting white powder, chasing it down with a glass of water. The water did nothing to release my palate from the bitter taste. Nevertheless, an hour after he left, I found that I had cleaned my two-bedroom, one-bath house and was ready to challenge the backyard Jacuzzi.

The Wonder Of Medical Nutrition

John successfully reduced his PSA level from 416.4 to zero one year later. Consolidating that high number was fantastic, but his PSA rose again in 1997. John just turned 95 on March 25, 2020, outliving his doctor. I will always be grateful to John for sharing knowledge about the human body’s many systems and the health benefits of medical nutrition. The day I met MSM convinced me to begin a journey to learn more about medicinal food, and I haven’t stopped yet.

Sugar Negatively Affects Nutritional Immunity

One of the things that John always cautioned me about was sugar consumption. In 1988 I attended a lecture in Santa Monica, California, by Nancy Appleton, Ph.D., to promote her new book, Lick The Sugar Habit. Nancy’s thesis focused on discovering how sugar upsets the mineral balance within the body, compromising one’s nutritional immunity. The imbalance makes way for degenerative diseases, including hypoglycemia, diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis, cancer, heart disease, headaches, allergies, asthma, obesity, periodontal disease, tooth decay, and more. I laughed when she jokingly told the story that, as a child, she would chase down bakery trucks that drove through her neighborhood. She probably was unaware of gluten’s associated problems with its discovery being newer. But at this point, sugar and gluten were both still my friends.

Get Natural Immunity Before You Get A Wake-Up Call

Like many people trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, I would read about another nutrient I might benefit from. In other words, I began cherry-picking my nutrition. Finally, in 2010 my negligence began to catch up with me. Hemoglobin A1C was a seven. I didn’t even realize what that meant until the following year. That’s when an M.D. told me I had diabetes and wanted to place me on insulin. Can you say wake-up call?

John received his wake-up call at 62, and I received mine at 59. There is a 27-year difference in our ages, but my wake-up call came three years earlier. Could this be the indicator Dr. Joel Wallach mentions when he says this generation will be the first generation not to outlive their parents? With all the nutrition-depleted, sugar-containing GMO products often consumed by today’s children, it is no wonder.

Now I had to research type 2 diabetes and discovered that in the State of California, diabetes had reached epidemic proportions. That thought never comforted me, and being unfamiliar with this disease, I began my research and formed my health protocols.

COVID-19 – The Universal Wake-up Call

This novel coronavirus, COVID-19, should be everyone’s wake-up call. Most of those dying from it had preexisting conditions that affected their immunity. Although not as evident as diabetes or a respiratory ailment, the biggest one is gluten intolerance. 30, 40, 50 years or more of eating wheat, rye, barley, and oats destroys the small intestine’s lining, eliminating nutrition absorption. Non-absorption of nutrients destroys the bone marrow, and the human body loses its ability to create enough white blood cells for enough immunity to attack a virus. Many in Italy died from COVID-19 as they were the ones who introduced pasta to the world. Countries like Germany, which are practically next door, choose to consume rice and potatoes for their starches, and the mortality rate is much lower.

Considerations For Your Nutritional Immunity Protocol That Increase Immunity

Once you are already receiving the necessary 90 essential nutrients regularly, I consider it wise to recommend additional supplementation for specific treatments. As a part of my medical nutrition protocol, I include extra Life Extension Super Selenium ComplexVitamins D and K with Sea-Iodine, and an amino acid that everyone should take. I learned of N-Acetyl L-Cysteine‘s health benefits (NAC) from Dr. Peter Glidden’s Naturopathic teacher (whose name I don’t recall), whom I admire because he taught Dr. Glidden, someone for whom I have great respect.

Before the pandemic, I would usually take 600 mg of NAC as part of my standard protocol. Still, I recently discovered that NAC might prevent COVID-19-associated cytokine storm and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Studies used levels of 1200 to successfully prevent exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). NAC also improves oxidative stress and inflammatory response in patients with community-acquired pneumonia along with conventional treatment. Suppose you read my last blog post, Ride Share Driver, Coronavirus Survivor. In that case, I describe what I went through battling a respiratory problem that, as of that time and date, had not been yet named, and that Vitamin D was also a helper in successfully warding it off—I believe it was COVID.

Whether you have a preexisting condition or not, talk to us. You will get a free 15-minutes of potential lifesaving conversation that might lead you onto a road to self-discovery, renewal, and restoration.
